TYWBC rules and requirements

Built on opportunity. Earned trough tryouts!

To preserve the integrity of the event, this is NOT a select team format. Each country MUST organize, post and announce open tryouts, giving all eligible players a fair opportunity to represent their country.

This event is not designed for pre-formed select teams, therefore no such teams will be allowed to participate.

Player Eligibility

Eligibility for participation is based on the following criteria:

   •    Age Requirements – Players must meet the designated age division guidelines.

   •    Talent Level – Players must demonstrate the skill level required to compete at this event.

   •    Nationality Representation – Players do not need to be born in the country they represent; however, they must meet at least one of the following requirements:

Nationality Requirements

To represent a country, at least one of the following must apply:

   •    The player is from that country

   •    One or both parents are from that country

   •    At least one grandparent is from that country

Important: Extended family members or personal connections (friends, acquaintances, etc.) do not qualify for eligibility.

Roster exceptions

We recognize that not all eligible players reside in Texas or nearby areas. To support fair participation:

   •    Certain teams may be granted roster exceptions to complete their team.

   •    These exceptions will be clearly communicated by each team during their tryout process.

   •    Not all teams will have or require exceptions.

Team Selection & Responsibility

   •    Each team’s General Manager and coaching staff are solely responsible for player selection decisions.

   •    The Texas Youth World Baseball Classic is not responsible for roster choices made by team managers.

Tryouts

Tryout Process

   •    The Texas Youth World Baseball Classic does not host or conduct tryouts.

   •    Each country is assigned a General Manager (GM) who is responsible for:

   •    Organizing and conducting tryouts

   •    Evaluating player skill and eligibility

   •    Selecting their official roster

   •    Tryout details will be shared on our website and social media platforms as they are provided by each team.

Note:

While we may share a list of previous General Managers, this does not guarantee their participation in future events.

Our Commitment

We are committed to:

   •    Upholding the integrity of eligibility standards

   •    Protecting the values and reputation of the event

   •    Ensuring a competitive environment where teams proudly represent their countries

At the same time, each team is expected to build and manage their roster in a way that allows them to compete at the highest level while honoring the flag they represent.
